I am an Electrical Engineer driven by putting technology at people's service
I work on what I find important and spend time on what I can learn from
Everything I do, I do with technology and people

Experience

Fintual

May 2022 — Present

CISO

Jan 2024 — Present
  • Leading Cyber&InfoSec, from the technical (tooling, infrastructure, incident response) to the organizational domains (board reports, compliance, awareness, etc.)

  • Led ISO 27001 certification for Fintual. Passed the external audit on the first attempt (April 2025). Drove regulatory compliance for CMF and ANCi cybersecurity requirements

  • Built and maintained in-house software to automate identity and access management across the company’s IdPs, sourcing policies from a GitOps repo. Privilege changes are fast, auditable, and visible to everyone

  • Built the internal incident management tooling (Django & friends), introducing standardized per-incident channels, post-mortem methodology, and regulatory reporting workflow (ANCi, CMF; CNBV)

  • Define cloud architecture and security along with the CTO, covering multi-cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Cloudflare), deployments and integration with third parties requirements

  • Rolled out endpoint management and VPN for internal tools across the company. Chose privacy-respecting tooling to ease adoption and policies-as-code to reduce operational overhead

  • Mentored non-developers in an internal AI upskilling program, helping them build working automations for their own workflows, aligned with security best practices

Security Engineer

May 2022 — Jan 2024
  • Ran security operations: access management, incident response, pentests, bug bounty coordination, and compliance inquiries through internal legal and compliance teams

  • Built an in-house access request management system (Django) when no available tool fit the need — still actively maintained after 3+ years

  • Drove security awareness across the organization and advocated for foundational security infrastructure changes that were later adopted during the CISO period

Universidad de Chile

Jul 2019 — Jun 2025

Part-Time Lecturer, Dept. of Electrical Engineering

Mar 2020 — Jun 2025

Instructor for hands-on innovation and design courses:

  • EL3105 - Seminar on Electrical Engineering & Technology Innovation
  • EL5002 - Introduction to Design Workshop
  • EL5004 - Design Workshop

B.AMBU Emergency Ventilator

May 2020 — Jul 2020
  • Joined a team of exceptional engineers building an emergency mechanical ventilator during the COVID-19 pandemic, with locally available parts, at the Fablab UChile

  • Handled electronics prototype manufacturing and general team support as needed

Course Design and Coordination, Beauchef Proyecta

Jul 2019 — Mar 2022
  • Built a little factory with 8 remote-operated robotic arms so students could learn robotics from home during the pandemic. Each cell had a Raspberry Pi and webcam to close the control loop over the web

  • Designed and shipped 50+ mechatronics kits by mail to students’ homes during COVID lockdowns. We did it before MIT!

  • Ran interdisciplinary project-based courses for ~100 students per semester, coordinating a teaching team across ~25 groups

Papinotas

Dec 2017 — May 2019

Hardware Developer

Dec 2017 — May 2019
  • Hardware and software development for an automated and free-flow attendance tracking platform for public schools, using UHF RFID.

  • Deployed 40+ units all over Santiago, remotely managed with centralized tools.
